Indian Ocean, a graded stakes winner by Stormy Atlantic, has been retired from racing because of a tendon injury.
A 3-year-old bred in Florida by George and Lee Ann Isaacs, Indian Ocean ran third to Surf Cat in the July 9 Swaps Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II) at Hollywood Park in his last start. Several weeks earlier, he defeated Surf Cat in the Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) at Hollywood in his first stakes try.
Indian Ocean retired with three wins and two placings from five starts and earnings of $176,460 for Ernest and Maria Moody's Mercedes Stables and trainer Jay Robbins.
A half-brother to stakes winner Megan's Halo, Indian Ocean is out of the Halo mare Indian Halo and has successful sire Storm Bird in his immediate family. Breeding plans will be announced later.
