Ready's Gal, winner of the Little Silver Stakes the first time she raced on grass, will try to make it two straight in Friday's Lake George Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Saratoga for 3-year-old fillies over the inner turf course.
The Todd Pletcher trainee outraced Lake George contestants Who's Cozy and Connie Belle in the June 26 Little Silver at Monmouth Park, at the Lake George distance of 1 1/16 miles, and figures to receive strong support at the betting windows in the $100,000 race.
Ready's Gal is the only one of the group who raced last year at Saratoga, but that was over dirt. She won twice there to open her career, then ran a close second in the Frizette Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park before taking the rest of the year off. She returned to the races in May with a fourth-place effort at Churchill Downs, then was badly beaten at Belmont prior to the Little Silver.
Who's Cozy had a two-race win streak going into the Little Silver. She had won a pair of mile grass race on the front end at Belmont, one by 4 1/4 lengths. Linda Rice trains.
If It's Meant to B is the most seasoned of the contestants, with 13 starts, and shows a victory in the restricted Six Perfections Stakes on dirt July 9 at Belmont in her last start. Trained by Heriberto Cedano, she sports an unplaced effort over yielding turf in her sole grass outing.
Beaugeste, trained by Robert Holthus, will try to make it three straight on turf. Her last two wins came at Churchill Downs. She has captured three of her last four outings, all on grass.
Dream Lady and Laurafina have each won two of their last three races, with all those starts coming at Belmont Park. Dream Lady, trained by Bobby Frankel, made a four-wide move in her last start to win by 1 3/4 lengths July 10. Laurafina's key start came two races back in the Sands Point Stakes (gr. IIIT), in which she finished 2 3/4 lengths in second behind Melhor Ainda, who later ran second in the American Oaks (gr. I). Robert Barbara trains.
