Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 545 horses for its Texas summer yearling auction, which will be held at Lone Star Park Aug. 29 and 30. The total is up 33.9% from last year's figure of 407.
In 2004, when Fasig-Tipton increased the size of the sale's catalogue by nearly 100 horses from the previous year, the auction enjoyed across-the board gains. The gross revenue surged 24.8% to $3,360,800 for the 270 horses sold. The average price grew 1.2% to $12,447, reaching its highest level since Fasig-Tipton started conducting the auction, which is sponsored by the Texas Thoroughbred Association, in 1997. And the median established a record by advancing 32.1% to $7,000.
Each of this year's sale sessions begins at 10 a.m. (CDT).
