Champion Soaring Softly produced her first foal, a Storm Cat colt, on Feb. 8 at Darby Dan Farm near Lexington. Soaring Softly, who won the inaugural Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (gr. IT) the year she was champion turf female of 1999, is owned by the Phillips Racing Partnership of John Phillips and his mother, Joan. John Phillips and T Wayne Sweezey are managing partners of Darby Dan. Soaring Softly (Kris S. -- Wings of Grace, by Key to the Mint) is booked to Seeking the Gold. Wings of Grace, who also is at Darby Dan, is in foal to Arch and is due in early April.
