William J. McGinley, who owned Horizon Farms near Barrington Hills, Ill., died Jan. 22 at age 77.
McGinley's interest in horses inspired the development of Horizon Farms, which he founded in 1978 as a full service facility. The 500-acre farm is located 50 miles northwest of Arlington Park and is home to seven stallions.
McGinley, who was chaiman and CEO of Methode Electronics at the time of his death, was committed to the preservation of land for equestrian activities and was a loyal supporter of the Fox River Valley Hunt. The Horizon acreage provides a natural habitat for wildlife.
McGinley's survivors include his wife, Jane; sons Robert and James; and a daughter, Margaret. The family plans to continue operation of the farm.
