After word had circulated through the industry for more than a month, it was officially announced today Jess Jackson has purchased Frank Stronach's Adena Springs near Versailles, Ky.

The deal is only for the portion of Adena that houses the broodmares. The stallion station, near Frankfort and Midway, Ky., will remain Adena Springs.

No purchase price was announced.

It is the second farm Jackson has purchased from Stronach, the other being in Florida. That property consists of 453 acres located north of Ocala.

Stronach is said to be buying a large tract of land -- more than 1,000 acres -- in Bourbon County, outside Paris, Ky.

Jackson's purchase is of 640 acres and brings his Central Kentucky land holdings to 1,109 acres. He purchased the former Buckram Oak Farm earlier this year. He renamed the property on Old Frankfort Pike Stonestreet Farm.

The portion of Adena Springs Jackson bought is on U.S. 60, often called Versailles Road.

Jackson and Stronach have been involved in several horse deals as well. Jackson purchased an interest in Ghostzapper and his sire, Awesome Again  , from Stronach.

"I have always loved horses, and have raced Thoroughbreds since the early 1960's. This foray into the industry is a natural extension of my lifelong passion and interests," Jackson said in a release. "We have 150 mares at Stonestreet already, and we'll have 180 when our racing fillies come off the track. We needed a first-rate facility to raise their weanlings, and get them ready for the yearling and two-year-old sales. We are fortunate that we were able to find such a superb place with every possible amenity, which perfectly complements our broodmare division."
