Edited press release

Officials at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino announced that Sean Beirne, director of simulcasting/public relations and track announcer, has resigned from his position effective Aug. 1. The Louisville native has taken a new position with Charlson Broadcast Technologies in Erlanger, Ky. and will assume his new responsibilities Aug. 22.

Beirne, a University of Louisville Equine Administration Program graduate, has been at Evangeline Downs since December 2002.

"The opportunity to go home was too good for me to pass on," said Beirne. "It has been a tremendous experience to be part of this project. We have enjoyed our time in this part of the country, made many friends and will miss the area."

"Sean has done an outstanding job here at Evangeline Downs and will truly be missed," said David Yount, executive director of racing operations at the Louisiana track. "He is very unique because he has the abilities to perform multiple jobs well. It will be close to impossible to replace him with just one person due to his talents. With that being said, we are immediately looking for replacements to cover his responsibilities."
