Siren Lure Posts Kerlan Upset

Siren Lure rallied to beat favorite Stormin' Lyon by a neck in Sunday's $79,500 Robert Kerlan Memorial Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Alex Solis, Siren Lure covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:01 4/5 on a firm turf course and paid $14.60, $6.20 and $4.80. Stormin' Lyon returned $4.60 and $3.20, and Golden Arrow paid $2.60 to show.

Siren Lure, a 4-year-old gelding based in Northern California and trained by Art Sherman, won his first stakes race and third straight for owners Stuart Kesselman and Tony and Marilyn Melkonian. He has won six of 11 starts overall and earned $193,015. A son of Joyeux Danseur bred in Kentucky by Desperado Stables, Sire Lure was claimed by his current connections for $50,000 while winning a five-furlong turf test at Bay Meadows on May 8.
