Acey Deucey Wins Belmont's Prioress

Acey Deucy outruns Maddalena to win the Prioress Stakes.
Acey Deucey rallied for a half-length victory over Maddalena in Saturday's 58th running of the Grade I, $250,000 Prioress Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park. Sense of Style was third, another 1 3/4 lengths back.

Trained by John Morrison and ridden by Diane Nelson, Acey Deucey (Abaginone - Misty Mountains, by Al Nasr) covered the six furlongs in 1:12 1-5 and returned $28.60, $8.20, and $5.80. The Maddalena-Sense of Style entry paid $3.90 and $4.60.

Acey Deucey, in her first start in two months, earned $150,000 for owner Jeffrey Tucker, bringing her career earnings to $381,080. Acey Deucy, who was bred in New York by Glen Grey Farm, won Aqueduct's Grade II Comely stakes on April 16.

Talented, R Fast Lady, Slew Motion, and Burnish completed the field. Contrast was scratched.
