Midas Eyes Retired to Stud at Mill Ridge Farm

Midas Eyes to stand at Mill Ridge.
Multiple graded stakes winner, Midas Eyes (
Touch Gold -Bayou Plans), has been retired to stud duty and will stand at Mill Ridge Farm, in Lexington, Ky.
A grade I winner trained by Bobby Frankel, Midas Eyes won the Forego Handicap (gr. I), just two-fifths of a second off the track record, defeating
Strong Hope , Gygistar, and Clock Stopper. Midas Eyes also prevailed in the Derby Trial Stakes (gr. III) and the Swale Stakes (gr. III), winning the latter by 9 1/4 lengths in 1:21:06, breaking the previous stakes record set by
Seeking the Gold in 1988.
"We feel he had tremendous talent and are thrilled to add him to our stallion roster," said Bayne Welker, director of stallion marketing at Mill Ridge Farm.
As a 3-year-old, he ran second to
Congaree , in the Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I). He also placed in the Riva Ridge Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II) and the Malibu Stakes (gr. I).
Midas Eyes retires with lifetime earnings of $616, 528.
The stud fee will be determined later.
