Turtle Bowl closed with a rush to claim the Prix Jean Prat (Fr-I) for 3-year-olds at Chantilly, France on Sunday.
Francois Rohaut trains the Irish-bred Dyhim Diamond colt who captured the one-mile event by a length over Starpix.
Held up toward the rear into the straight, Olivier Peslier drove Turtle Bowl to take the lead from Rocamadour with 100 yards to go in an eventful finish. Starpix, ridden by Christope Soumillon, overtook Rocamadour, in the final strides for second by a short head, with the latter finishing third.
Ballydoyle's Ad Valorem, the 6-4 favorite with Kieren Fallon aboard, was forced to check while rallying with a furlong to go when fourth-place finisher Home Affairs lost his bit in the late stages. Fallon lodged a complaint but officials chose not to change the order, leaving Ad Valorem in fith.
Rocamadour, with Ted Durcan in the irons, controlled the pace with Home Affairs and Richard Hughes well placed behind them.
"Turtle Bowl did what we expected but I was a little worried as I was expecting a slower pace," Rohaut told Racing Post
. "Turtle Bowl has a superb turn of foot. As he's had a lot of racing, I will now give the colt a rest and prepare him for the autumn when he could also be campaigned in the States."
Soumillon brought Starpix along late but they never challenged the winner.
Ad Valorem offered little after his incident with Home Affairs.
"He was interfered with so he was unlucky," trainer Aidan O'Brien said of Ad Valorem. "Other horses came on top of him at a crucial moment and but for that he would have been closer."
Mathematician, Helios Quercus and Salut Thomas followed Ad Valorem. The final time was 1:36.1 on good going.
