Salt Lake to Golden Eagle

Salt Lake has been purchased by Betty Mabee and her son, Larry Mabee, to stand at their Golden Eagle Farm near Ramona, Calif., for the 2006 breeding season. A son of the late Deputy Minister, Salt Lake previously stood at Walmac Farm near Lexington.

As a sire, Salt Lake is represented by 62 stakes winners, including Champagne Stakes (gr. I) winner Ordway and Salt Champ, winner of the Santa Monica Handicap (gr. I). His progeny, 10 crops of racing age, have earned $37,529,566.

Racing for the Young family's Overbrook Farm and trainer D. Wayne Lukas, Salt Lake ended his career with a record of 7-3-4 from 21 career starts. He earned $536,218. His major wins came in the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), Cowdin (gr. II), Tremont (gr. III), King's Bishop (gr. II), and the Fall Highweight (gr. II).

Crook Investment Co. bred Salt Lake in Kentucky from the Queen City Lad mare Take Lady Anne.
