Undefeated River's Prayer Faces Eight in Landaluce
Unbeaten River's Prayer, a 3 1/2-length winner of the June 4 Cinderella Stakes as the odds-on favorite, figures to draw heavy support again on Saturday when facing eight rival 2-year-old fillies in Hollywood Park's $100,000 Landaluce Stakes at six furlongs.Alex Solis replaces Felipe Martinez aboard the gray filly who preceded her Cinderella score by breaking her maiden by five lengths for co-owner and trainer Paula Capestro. "She's still in development," Capestro said after the California-bred daughter of Devon Lane validated her maiden victory in the stakes. Her opponents include Cinderella runner-up My Lucky Free, who finished six lengths ahead of the third-place filly and who was subsequently purchased by University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino. Pitino is expected to be in attendance on Saturday. After fighting back to win her first start in a game showing, Indian Breeze missed some training after injuring herself in her stall. "She jumped around and put a four-inch gash in her stomach," said trainer Adam Kitchingman. "She missed about ten days of training, but we sewed it up and she's okay now." The Kentucky-bred daughter of Indian Charlie is owned by William R. Peeples. The complete field for the Landaluce with jockeys and weights in post position order:
