A 2-year-old
Tiznow colt was purchased by EQB Inc. for $74,000 to top Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds and horses in training.
The sale, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, was added to the Fasig-Tipton auction schedule due to the popularity of the Midlantic May sale.
Consigned by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree, as agent, the sale-topping colt was produced from the American Oaks (gr. III) winner Scratch Paper (by Notebook), who had eight wins and earned $272,514.
Fasig-Tipton reported 57 horses were sold for a gross of $811,100, an average price of $14,230, and a median of $10,000. The 28 horses that did not sell represented 32.9% of the total 85 through the ring.
Second-highest price of $60,000 was paid by Ken and Sarah Ramsey for a
Bernstein colt produced from the Halo mare Flora's Temple, consigned by agent Randy Miles.
