Labeling renovations made at Santa Anita Park after being purchased by Magna Entertainment as "obliterating the historic structure," the National Trust for Historic Preservation has placed the California track on its list of "America's Most Endangered Historic Places." The organization noted that expansion at Santa Anita "will ruin historic Art Deco structure."

The sites will be featured in a one-hour television documentary scheduled to air on the History Channel at 10:00 p.m. (EDT; 9:00 p.m. PT). Other sites on the list range from the Okeechobee Battlefield in Florida to Wheelock Academy in Oklahoma.

"America's irreplaceable heritage is always at risk," National Trust president Richard Moe said in a press release. "We must ring the alarm to save these places through awareness, education, funding, and policy changes.…We either save them now or we will lost them forever." (More, National Trust for Preservation)
