My Trusty Cat Seeks Repeat Win in Chicago BC

Carl Pollard's grade I winner My Trusty Cat will return to defend her title in Saturday's $175,000 Chicago Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) at Arlington Park. Trained by David Vance, My Trusty Cat won last year's seven-furlong event by 1 3/4lengths over Our Josefina. My Trusty Cat enters the race fresh off a big win over John Gunther's Molto Vita in the May 7 Humana Distaff Handicap (gr. I) at Churchill Downs. Between her 2004 Chicago score and Churchill victory, the 5-year-old mare has kept her record strong with a grade I win in the seven-furlong Ballerina Handicap at Saratoga last August, followed by a runner-up effort behind Madcap Escapade in Keeneland's Vinery Madison Stakes (gr. III) in April at the same distance. Bred in Kentucky by Vintage Racing, My Trusty Cat, by Tale of the Cat , will break from post six carrying top weight of 120 pounds under jockey Shaun Bridgmohan. Set to usurp My Trusty Cat's Chicago reign is second highweight Savorthetime, trained by Steve Asmussen. The 6-year-old daughter of Gilded Time already has two stakes wins to her credit this year, the First Lady Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park in January and Carousel at Oaklawn Park in April.Savorthetime enters the Chicago off a second-place effort behind Boston Express in the six-furlong Valid Expectation Stakes at Lone Star.Owned by Brenda and Philip Robertson and bred by Runnymede Farm and Catesby Clay in Kentucky, Savorthetime will start from the inside with Larry Sterling Jr. in the irons. Injustice, who won the Azeri Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II) in January, will break from the middle under jockey Carlos Marquez Jr. Injustice, trained by Wayne Catalano for Turf Express and Darrell and Evelyn Yates, enters the race off a third-place showing in a May 25 allowance race going 11/16miles at Churchill Downs.
