Blood-Horse Takes Home Several AHP Awards; Named Top Web Site

Blood-Horse Publications took home several awards from the 2005 American Horse Publications Annual Awards Program held June 11 in Seattle, Wash. The awards are for material published in 2004.
First-place awards went to
Blood-Horse features editor Lenny Shulman in the Personality Profile category (circulation 15,000 or more) for "Cell High," a feature on Thoroughbred owners Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey;
Blood-Horse news editor Tom LaMarra for on-line news reporting for "High-Volume Shops Make Case As Wagering Study Continues," a story about rebate shops; and to bloodhorse.com, the company's Web site headed by Webmaster Gordon Lester; editor Ron Mitchell; and designer Jeff Flannery.
Also in the Personality Profile category,
Keeneland Magazine, published by Blood-Horse Publications, earned a third-place for "Her Kingdom for a Horse" by Sue Wylie; and
The Blood-Horse received an honorable mention for "Q&A With Seth Hancock" by Dan Liebman.
In the Features category (circulation 15,000 or more),
The Blood-Horse received a third place for "Pony Pals" by Steve Haskin;
Keeneland Magazine received an honorable mention for "Equine ER" by Stephanie Church; and
The Blood-Horse got an honorable mention for "Life After Racing" by Shulman.
In other awards under the category of Editorial Design (circulation 15,000 or more),
Keeneland Magazine received a second place for "Victory Gardens," designer Suzanne Depp and photographer Lee P. Thomas;
TBH MarketWatch (editor Eric Mitchell, assistant editor Jason Russo, and designer Dana Kelley) received a second place in the Newsletter category; and TheHorse.com (Web editor Christy West and designer Flannery) won a second place.
For Editorial Content,
The Horse won second place for "Parasite Primer Series" in the Instructional Series category.
The Blood-Horse also won third place in the Publication Staff Advertisement category (circulation 15,000 or more) for its "Did You Know?" campaign (designer--The Blood-Horse art department; photographer-- Thomas; concept--publisher Stacy Bearse; and marketing--Robert Bolson).
