French Derby winner Holding Court and Vodafone Epsom Derby winner Sinndar are in line for a $1-million bonus should either emerge victorious in Sunday's Budweiser Irish Derby at the Curragh Racecourse.
Trained by Michael Jarvis, Holding Court was supplemented to the Irish race after it became likely that the turf will be soft, as heavy rain is forecast for later in the week. It was under similar conditions that Holding Court defeated Lord Flasheart by six lengths in the French Derby.
Under terms of the bonus scheme, a horse that wins a derby in England or France and completes the double with an Irish Derby victory will earn a $1-million bonus, provided there are eight starters inthe Irish race. According to Sporting Life, as many as a dozen 3-year-olds are expected to compete in the race
