Jeffery S. Amling's multiple stakes winner Steal a Heart has been retired from racing and will be bred to Broad Brush. The 6-year-old mare finished last in the Feb. 10 Pan Zareta Handicap at Fair Grounds after engaging in a speed duel with Hallowed Dreams and Roxelana. "She's still 100% sound," said trainer Alice Cohn.
Bred by John D. Stuart, Peter C. Bance, and Foxfield, Steal a Heart (Crafty Prospector -- Ransomed Bride, by Private Account) won a dozen of 36 races and earned $569,341. She captured the 2000 Pan Zareta, plus the Victoria Lass Handicap and Mamzelle and Stravinsky Stakes during her career. She also set a course record at Keeneland and equaled one at Ellis Park.
