With $330,000 in the pool as of 3:15 p.m., the odds are hard to figure for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), which has a post time of about 6:40.

Nolan's Cat, a maiden who is 50-1 in the morning line, is only 15-1.

But the patrons are sure that they think Afleet Alex, who ran third in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and won the Preakness (gr. I), deserves to be the favorite. He is 8-5.

Only one other horse is single digits, that being Derby winner Giacomo, who is 5-1.

But there is no big spread among the others.
