Undefeated, six-time winner Lost in the Fog--minus the services of regular rider Russell Baze--is still the one to catch as he runs toward a possible Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old.

Bred in Kentucky by Susan Seper, Harry Aleo purchased his star privately after the son of Lost Soldier's reserve went unmet at $195,000 at the 2004 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s Selected Sale of 2-year-olds in training. The handsome dark bay has rewarded Aleo for his confidence, earning $417,075 in five consecutive stakes wins and a maiden-breaking 7 1/2-length romp at Golden Gate Fields last November.

Trained by Greg Gilchrist, Lost in the Fog annexed the Golden Bear Breeders' Cup Stakes by 10 lengths May 14 in an easy tune-up for the Riva Ridge. He and Baze set a Golden Gate record for six furlongs (1:07.32) in the process. A bullet move of five furlongs in 58.60 June 5 over that strip shows he is ready for another top effort.

Regular rider Russell Baze, who just celebrated his 9,000th win last week, broke a collarbone in a breakdown Wednesday and will not be aboard. Lost in the Fog shouldn't miss a beat with Gilchrist tapping Edgar Prado as a replacement. The pair will break from the two hole carrying 123 pounds.

Also carrying 123 from one spot to his right is Bob and Beverly Lewis' Going Wild. The son of Golden Missile   was drubbed by a combined 32-plus lengths in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I), but looks to get back to a more comfortable distance Saturday.

Bred in Kentucky by partners John O'Meara, Charlie Goldberg, and Richard Rossee, Going Wild has won a stake at six furlongs (San Miguel) and 1 1/8-miles (Sham, gr. II), but never at the Riva Ridge's seven furlongs. The D. Wayne Lukas trainee has hit the board in all five of his sprint races--winning two--and should be out front giving the early-running Lost in the Fog some fast company.

Going Wild posted a bullet work of furlongs in :46.20 himself at Churchill Downs June 6 and appears to be on his game. Hall of Famer Jerry Bailey gets up in the Lewises green-and yellow-hooped silks.

Shug McGaughey will send out late-running Gotham Stakes (gr. III) winner Survivalist, fifth in the one-mile Withers Stakes (gr. III) April 30 at Aqueduct after getting a 17 1/2-length routing from Bellamy Road in the Wood Memorial (gr. I) April 9.

The son of Danzig was bred in Kentucky by the formidable Phipps Stable, and races as a homebred for the outfit begun by the late New York racing legend Ogden Mills Phipps, Sr. The dark bay colt has been on the board in five of his seven starts and should be running for one of the top three checks.

McGaughey has replaced long-time rider Richard Migliore with 2004 Eclipse Award-winner John Velazquez, who will guide out Survivalist, also under 123 pounds, four spots from the rail.

Padua Stables' Champagne Stakes (gr. I) and Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) winner Proud Accolade also has the distance credentials to compete in the Riva Ridge. Bred in Florida by Marion Montanari, The son of Yes It's True   put up a nice work of five furlongs in :59.91 for trainer Todd Pletcher over the Belmont surface June 5. With the services of always-confident Mike Smith, Proud Accolade could land a share.

War Plan, by Fusaichi Pegasus  , Middle Earth, by Dixieland Band, Egg Head, by Honor Grades, and Tani Maru, by Cherokee Run round out the field.
