(Edited press release)
The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will offer a $200,000 bonus program for its yearling auction beginning this year.

All accredited Louisiana-bred horses that pass through the sale ring during the auction will be eligible for the Bayou State Bonus, which will be available to a member of each sex that sweeps a series of races.

A colt or gelding that wins the 2006 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, the 2007 Crescent City Derby, and the 2007 A.L. "Red" Erwin Memorial Stakes will receive a $100,000 bonus. A filly can earn a $100,000 bonus by capturing the 2006 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie, the newly created 2007 Crescent City Oaks, and the 2007 Elge Raspberry Memorial Stakes.

The yearling sale is scheduled for Oct. 15.
