Johar will shuttle from Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington to Highview Stud near Hamilton in New Zealand for the Southern Hemisphere season. The deal, finalized by Richard Santulli and George Prussin's Jayeff B Stable, calls for Johar to shuttle a minimum of three years. Jayeff B bought Johar following the horse's retirement from racing in the spring of 2004.
Johar, whose big win came in a deadheated score in the 2003 John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT), is in the midst of standing for $20,000 his first season. He has covered about 95 of the 115 mares booked to him this year at Mill Ridge, owned by Alice Chandler and her husband, Dr. John Chandler.
Highview acquired the Southern Hemisphere services of Johar in partnership with Trelawney and Pencarrow Stud. Six-year-old Johar (
Gone West--Windsharp, by Lear Fan) will stand for $NZ20,000.
