Craig Dollase to Train for West Point Partners
Southern California-based conditioner Craig Dollase has been named trainer for West Point Thoroughbreds' West Coast operations. Jeff Bloom, executive vice president, made the announcement."Craig Dollase is the perfect fit to the West Point program and we're thrilled to have him join our team," said Bloom. "He is the consummate professional who has already enjoyed tremendous success on the national scene."The 34-year-old Dollase has enjoyed considerable success in his career. At 27, he became the youngest trainer to win a Breeders' Cup race in 1998 when Reraise captured the Sprint. He also finished second with Elloluv in the 2003 Breeders' Cup Distaff.The son of noted trainer Wally Dollase, the younger Dollase is winning with 21% of his starters at the current Hollywood Park meeting.Terry Finley founded West Point Thoroughbreds, one of the leading racing partnership companies in Thoroughbred racing, in 1991. West Point is coming off its best season ever, posting stable earnings of $1,301,224, led by multiple graded stakes winner Seattle Fitz.
