BC Winner High Chaparral to New Zealand
John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) winner High Chaparral will shuttle to Windsor Park Stud near Cambridge, New Zealand, for his first Southern Hemisphere breeding season. The 6-year-old son of Sadler's Wells will take the place of Montjeu, who has been shuttling to Windsor Park for the past four seasons. Both stallions are based at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.High Chaparral, who topped the $5-million mark in career earnings, not only won the Turf in 2002, but deadheated for first the following year and was voted an Eclipse Award both years. He was a group I winner all three years he raced, taking the Racing Post Trophy in England at two, the Vodafone Epsom Derby in England and the Budweiser Irish Derby at three, and the Ireland The Food Island Champion Stakes at four.High Chaparral, who was produced from the Darshaan mare Kasora, will stand for $NZ22,000 (approximately $15,600), plus GST.
