The New Mexico Racing Commission has become the 25th jurisdiction to join the North American Pari-Mutuel Regulators Association, and the second new jurisdiction this year. In January, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission joined NAPRA.

NAPRA was founded in June of 1997 when some racing commissions unhappy with the direction of the Association of Racing Commissioners International left to form a new regulatory group. The two organizations continue to co-exist.

NAPRA has scheduled its spring meeting for April 7-10 in Orange Beach, Ala. It will be hosted by the Birmingham and Macon County racing commissions, both of which oversee Greyhound racing and at tracks in their area.
