Monmouth Park to Isolate New York Shippers

With a possible case of strangles in New York, all shippers from Aqueduct and Belmont to Monmouth Park will be isolated in a separate receiving area upon arrival.

"All areas that those horses may come in contact with will be disinfected – starting gate, paddock, lead ponies, stalls, etc." said Dennis Dowd, senior vice president/racing for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. "It's similar to the procedures taken at Gulfstream earlier this year, and it's consistent with our policy of doing what is necessary to protect the horses stabled here."

It is recommended that all horses stabled at a racetrack with a confirmed case of strangles have a negative test for the disease dated May 28 or later.
