Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Giacomo arrived at Pimlico Race Course at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in pursuit of the second leg of the coveted Triple Crown in Saturday's Preakness Stakes (gr. I).The son of Holy Bull was on the second shipment of horses arriving from Louisville, along with Preakness contenders Wilko and High Limit.Noting some of the great horses who have been there before, such as Seattle Slew, Secretariat, and Spectacular Bid, trainer John Shirreffs said he was honored to have his colt housed in stall 40 of the stakes barn that traditionally is home to the Derby winner. "What an honor to go in that stall, with all those great horses," Shirreffs said. Regardless of the Preakness outcome, for which Giacomo is likely not to be the favorite, Shirreffs said he is proud of his horse. "It's a comfortable feeling when you are not the favorite."The conditioner said Giacomo had no problems on the trip, noting that he "has a good head on his shoulders" and always travels well.
