Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia has predicted the mutuel field will be favored in Churchill Downs' first Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool. Wagering for the first of three pools opens Thursday.
A total of 24 wagering interests will be open to bettors, including the mutuel field, which Battaglia posted at 5-1, Point Given, who at 6-1 is the individual with the lowest odds, Millennum Wind (10-1), and A P Valentine (12-1). Macho Uno, who recently was taken out of training with a possible injury, is also at 10-1.
This is the third year the Future Wager has been offered, and it will again follow a three-pool format. Pool 1 will open at noon Thursday and will close at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18. Last year locations in 25 different states offered the wager.
