Dubleo, one of the top 2-year-old grass runners of 2004, will enter stud at Vinery Australia in Scone. But first, he will race once more for current owners James T. Scatuorchio, J.J. Pletcher, and Pete Wetterman. Trained by Pletcher's son, Todd, Dubleo will run in the May 30 Jersey Derby on grass at Monmouth Park.
As a juvenile on the turf, Dubleo won the Generous (gr. IIIT), Summer (Can-IIT), and Continental Mile Stakes and placed in the Bourbon County Stakes. On dirt, he took the Chenery Stakes.
Dubelo, who started his 3-year-old season with a win in the Dave Feldman Stakes, has won seven of 12 races and earned $410,134.
Vinery proved interested in Dubleo because of the promising sire record of another son of Southern Halo, 8-year-old More Than Ready, who shuttles between Vinery Australia and Vinery near Lexington.Bred by Anzac, Dubleo is out of Secret Red (by Secretariat), who is a half-sister to champion sprinter Rubiano and the stakes-winning dam of grade I winner Tapit . Dubleo will stand for $12,100 (including GST) in 2005.
