Innuendo Wins The Very One Handicap

Irish-bred Innuendo won her first added-money event on North American soil in The Very One Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park Sunday afternoon. The Christophe Clement trainee covered the 1 3/8 mile distance over a firm turf course in 2:13.62. Lucky Lune was four lengths back in second, with Silver Bandana 1 3/4 lengths back for third.

Ridden by Jerry Bailey, Innuendo tracked the pace set by Niall O'Callaghan trainee On a Soapbox before moving three-wide to take over in the final turn. The winner drew clear for her sixth lifetime win and her first of the year. The winner paid $3.60, $2.60, and $2.20.

Innuendo is a homebred Irish mare racing for Gerald W. Leigh, and made her first start in the United States in April of last year. She has won six of 15 lifetime start for earnings of $324,350.
