Graded stakes winner National Treasure died April 2 while delivering a
Sky Mesa filly by cesarean section. The 12-year-old daughter of Recusant was owned by Stuart Hyman's Shyman Racing Stables and boarded at Windfields Farm near Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
National Treasure won the 1998 Beaugay Handicap (gr. III) at Aqueduct for Sunny Meadow Farm. She initially raced for her breeder, Don and Mira Ball's Donamire Farm. National Treasure won nine of 36 races and earned $280,440.
Produced from the Sir Ivor mare Ivory Treasure, National Treasure was the dam of two foals of racing age, including the winner Benny's Gem, and a registered yearling. Her Sky Mesa filly is on a nurse mare.
