Lone Star Park stewards suspended jockey Lonnie Meche 45 days and fined him $2,500 April 15 after he tested positive for an amphetamine. According to the Texas Racing Commission, in addition to testing positive, Meche attempted to provide stewards with a substitute urine sample.
Meche admitted to the use of amphetamines and waived his right to a formal hearing.
As a condition to reinstatement, Meche is required to report to a medical supervisor and provide a clean urine sample, according to the Texas Racing Commission.
Meche opened the Lone Star meeting by guiding Yessirgeneralsir to a second-place finish in the April 14 Premiere Stakes and scoring a two-length win aboard Exclusive Cat in a claiming race.
