Tattersalls reported 124 horses sold for a gross of 6,333,000 guineas, with an average of 51,072 guineas and a 35,000 median price.

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "In 2004 this sale produced sensational figures with both average and turnover climbing more than 45%, a runaway new sale record of 500,000 guineas and a median that rose by 24%. Going in to this week we felt that such figures would be a hard act to follow, but the vendors presented us with a catalogue widely regarded as the strongest ever assembled for a European breeze-up sale, and have been rewarded with a sale which has broken records across the board.

Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum purchased the event's top lot Thursday, paying 270,000 guineas for a Red Ransom half-brother to group II winner Talloires (Trempolino), who had been unsold for $110,000 at Keeneland September and was consigned by Jamie Railton yesterday.

A trainer for the colt, on whom Shunsuke Yoshida of Japan's Northern Farm was underbidder, will be finalized in the next few days.

Railton also sold the second top lot, Perfect Order (Red Ransom), a filly who realized $75,000 as a yearling at Keeneland. She made 200,000 guineas this time around when owner John Livock outbid Sheikh Rashid.

"She is going to Neville Callaghan, with whom I've had horses for many years," said Livock. "Neville's son Simon watched her in the breeze and really liked her."
