Trainer Morey Wins Three at Bay Meadows

William E. Morey scored a training triple Wednesday at Bay Meadows when he sent out the winners of the second, third, and seventh races.

Morey had a little help in getting to the winner's circle in the second race with McKinna G, who finished second (beaten a half-length) in the six-furlong race but was awarded the victory when the stewards disqualified winner Captain Briggs and placed him third for causing interference in the stretch. McKinna G paid $3.20 as a heavy 3-to-5 favorite.

Morey took the six-furlong third race with Northern Game ($8.20), who nailed Marine Drive on the wire for a nose victory. Morey's hat trick was completed when Drought Breaker ($8.60) led from start to finish in the seventh race, a 1 1/16 miles turf contest.

Morey ranks sixth in the Bay Meadows trainer standings with 18 victories.
