General Assembly, a grade I winner from Secretariat's second crop, has been euthanized in Germany, according to the Racing Post. The 29-year-old stallion, who stood at Harald Kubatta's Gestut Olympia in Germany, suffered from heart and circulation problems.

Bred by Bertram and Diana Firestone, General Assembly ran first or second in 13 of 17 races for Bertram Firestone. As a juvenile in 1978, he duplicated the feat of his sire by winning the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga. His big win came the following year at the Spa when he set a 1 1/4-mile track record of 2:00 flat in taking the Travers Stakes (gr. I) by 15 lengths.

General Assembly, who was produced from the Native Dancer mare Exclusive Dancer, won three grade II stakes and retired with earnings of $463,245 while trained by LeRoy Jolley. He entered stud in 1980 at Gilltown Stud in Ireland, and later stood at Pillar Stud and Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, and in France, before ending up at Gestut Olympia in 1995. General Assembly sired 31 stakes winners, including three-time champion Hong King sprinter Steady Flame and Charleston Rag, winner of the 1984 Frizette Stakes (gr. I).
