Redoute's Choice Has Major Stud Fee Jump

The hottest stud in Australia, Arrowfield, home of the "wonder from down under" Redoute's Choice (Danehill -- Shantha's Choice) announced its 2005 stud fees Friday.

The 10 Arrowfield sires will all be in great demand, especially Redoute's Choice, who will stand for Aus$220,000--the second highest mark ever in Australia and the current fifth highest priced stallion in the world.

Using Friday's conversion rate, the amount in U.S. dollars is $170,000.

Redoute's Choice stood his first season in 2000 for $33,000 and was raised to $44,000 last season. He covered more than 200 mares last season.

"What can we say. Redoute's Choice has started amazingly and we priced him accordingly," said Arrowfield head John Messara.

Only Danehill, while at Coolmore Australia, stood for more and that was in his very last season after 10 years of shuttling from Ireland. This week, Redoute's Choice had an Easter Sale average of $611,714.

At Australia's major sale, his 35 yearlings contributed $21.4 million to the record $90 million gross. His average and median ($450,000) represented around a third of the sale average and median for 436 head, both also records.

Joining him on the roster at Arrowfield will be his first stakes winning son, the current star 3-year-old Not A Single Doubt, who will stand for $13,750 (about $10,600 U.S.) in his first season. He is out of a half-sister to another former great Arrowfield stallion, Snippets.

Group I winning 3-year-old Charge Forward (Red Ransom -- Sydney's Dream) is also new at Arrowfield and will have a fee of $24,750 ($19,100).

The others on the Arrowfield roster are: French Deputy (by Deputy Minister), Dehere (Deputy Minister) and Falbrav (Fairy King) $38,500 ($29,700); Danzero (Danehill) and Flying Spur (Danehill) $33,000 ($25,500); Hussonet (Mr. Prospector) $24,750 ($19,100); and Orientate   (Mt Livermore) $19,250 ($14,900).
