Breeders' Cup Limited, along with the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, has released the official event logo for the 22nd Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, to be held Oct. 29 at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.

The 2005 event also coincides with celebration of the 100th anniversary season of Belmont Park.

The 2005 official event logo, created by New York-based Phoenix Design Works, features an image of the Statue of Liberty in the center of the design in purple and turquoise, and is bordered in black with the words "World Thoroughbred Championships" at the top, and the traditional Breeders' Cup logo placed above the words "Belmont Park 2005" at the bottom. The outside frame of the logo is modeled after the classic window facade of the brick wall architecture of Belmont Park.

"The 2005 event logo combines one of the signature elements of New York, 'Lady Liberty,' with the World Thoroughbred Championships at Belmont Park," said vice president of Breeders' Cup Event Management Damon Thayer. "We look forward to displaying the logo widely throughout the New York Metropolitan area and to our international outlets."

The event logo will appear in Breeders' Cup advertising, promotions, and officially licensed clothing and merchandise sold here and overseas. The logo will also appear on the NTRA Web site and be utilized by North American and other international media organizations to complement coverage of the World Thoroughbred Championships.
