Twenty racetracks have signed on for this year's America's Day at the Races, to be held Labor Day, Sept. 4. The event was established by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association in 1997 to become a “national holiday for horse lovers.” Each track will schedule various promotions for the afternoon, and a special national wager will be offered. The “America's Pick 3” will include the $500,000 Diana Handicap (gr. II) at Saratoga, the $150,000 Arlington Matron (gr. III) at Arlington International, and the $250,000 Del Mar Handicap (gr. II) at Del Mar. The races are scheduled to be televised on the TV Games Network, as those three racetracks are exclusive members of TVG. The tracks that will participate in America's Day at the Races are Arlington, Bay Meadows, Calder Race Course, Cal Expo, Canterbury Park, Charles Town Races, Del Mar, Delaware Park, Ellis Park, Emerald Downs, Meadowlands, Mountaineer Park, Three County Fair (Northampton), Penn National, Philadelphia Park, Prairie Meadows, Prescott Downs, River Downs, Sam Houston Race Park, and Saratoga. In addition to TOBA, the sponsors for this year's event are The Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, The Jockey Club, and Thoro'bred Racing Plates Inc.
