Overbrook Farm's surging Cape Hope registered her fourth straight victory on the grass with a three-quarters of a length win in the $100,000 Herecomesthebride Stakes (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park Saturday.

Favored Cape Hope, Jose Santos riding, wrested the lead from longshot Royal Bean and held off the closing Dynamite Lass for the win in 1:48 1/5 for the 1 1/8-mile test.

Dansetta Light was third, two lengths farther back. The first three in the Herecomesthebride were first, second and fourth in the Feb. 20 Gaily Gaily Stakes at Gulfstream. Paddy's Daisy, third in the Gaily Gaily, was fourth.

Trainer Dallas Stewart switched Cape Hope to the turf in December and she hasn't lost since. Prior to her two local victories here, she won two races at the Fair Grounds. She has earned $135,690.

"She's been dominant since moving to the grass," Santos said. "Today, we were very close up, but the pace was slower than usual. When I asked her for her late run, she just hit another gear and took off."

Cape Hope paid $5 to win.
