Bagshot, the 1999 California Cup Classic winner, will break from the eight-hole under Chris McCarron at 114 pounds, as a field of 12 older runners have passed the entry box for Sunday's $300,000 San Antonio Handicap at 1 1/8 miles on the main track.

A 7-year-old Toffan and McCaffery California homebred trained by Paco Gonzalez, Bagshot has won four of 30 starts for earnings of $729,104. McCarron, Gonzalez, McCaffery and Toffan combined to win the 1999 San Antonio with Free House.

"He's been training very good," said Gonzalez. "This horse has got so much talent, he can run with these kind of horses."

Bagshot completed preparations by breezing six furlongs in 1:14.80 Monday.

Sultry Substitute has drawn post No. 2 and the services of regular rider Garret Gomez. Sultry Substitute has multiple grade-stakes placings but is looking for his first win since a 1999 allowance score at Hollywood Park. Trainer Nick Canani didn't have any equipment changes in mind to try to shake up the 6-year-old Florida-bred for the San Antonio.

"He knows what he's doing," Canani said. "He tries hard every time."

Guided Tour is in from Louisiana for trainer Niall O'Callahan and will break from post No. 5 under regular rider Larry Melancon. Guided Tour went to the track Friday morning, completing preparations by breezing four furlongs in :51.20.
