Woodman's Girl, dam of millionaire and successful young sire More Than Ready  , was euthanized Feb. 21 because of colic after giving birth that day by cesarean section to a Mineshaft   filly. The 15-year-old mare was owned by Walter M. Hillenmeyer III and Robert E. Hoeweler's Woodlynn Farm, near Lexington; Woodlynn bought Woodman's Girl while she was carrying her first foal. More Than Ready was her second offspring.

More Than Ready, by Southern Halo, won six stakes, including the 2000 King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I) as a 3-year-old at Saratoga. He placed in five others and earned a career total of $1,026,229. More Than Ready, who stands at Dr. Tom Simon's Vinery near Lexington, ranked sixth on the 2004 freshman sire list by progeny earnings.

Bred by Mrs. O.M. Patrick, Woodman's Girl (Woodman--Becky Be Good, by Naskra) won three of 28 starts and earned $69,195 racing in North America and Puerto Rico. All four of her named foals are winners. Her newborn filly is on a nurse mare and is coming along fine, according to Hillenmeyer.
