Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 264 horses for its Texas sale of 2-year-olds in training on April 5 at Lone Star Park. The auction is a week later on the calendar than originally planned. The new time slot will be more convenient for buyers and consignors alike because it does not conflict with the festivities surrounding the Easter holiday, according to Tim Boyce, Fasig-Tipton Texas' director of sales. Easter is on March 27.
"The catalogue is slimmer this year, because, for the most part, our consignors have raised the bar considerably on the quality of horses they are offering, both physically and pedigree-wise," Boyce said. "Just look at the sires represented. The likes of
Distorted Humor ,
El Corredor ,
Kingmambo, Mr. Greeley,
Smoke Glacken , and Wild Rush would be at home anywhere. And we have a daughter of
Tale of the Cat , sire of the world-record selling juvenile (that brought $5.2 million) at our Calder Sale this year."
The auction's under tack show will be held April 3, beginning at 10 a.m. (CST). The sale begins at 10 a.m. (CST) on April 5.
Catalogues are now available from all Fasig-Tipton offices. Further information can be obtained by contacting Fasig-Tipton's Texas office at 972-262-0000 or by going go Fasig-Tipton's Web at www.fasigtipton.com.
