Sugar Maple Buys Interest in Stallion Performing Magic

Howard Kaskel's Sugar Maple Farm has purchased grade II winner Performing Magic, who stood at the Poughquag, N.Y., farm as the property of The Thoroughbred Corp., once owned by the late Prince Ahmed Salman. Eight-year-old Performing Magic (Gone West--Performing Arts, by The Minstrel) won or placed in 13 of 18 races and earned $723,170, with his big win coming in the 2000 Illinois Derby (gr. II). He stands for $5,000, and his first foals are 2-year-olds.
