Strodes Creek is the latest U.S. stallion to depart for Japan.
Kentucky Derby (gr. I) runner-up Strodes Creek has been sold to Turf Company of Japan, according to Florida-based bloodstock consultant John Jacobs, who represents Turf Company. Ten-year-old Strodes Creek, who arrived in Japan the last weekend in January, stood at Arthur B. Hancock III's Stone Farm near Paris, Ky. He covered 17 mares in 2000.
Strodes Creek (Halo -- Bottle Top, by Topsider) raced for Hancock and Robert and Janice McNair. He won three of nine races, including the J. O. Tobin Stakes, and ran third in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and Santa Anita Derby (gr. I).
Strodes Creek entered stud at Stone Farm in 1996 and is represented by stakes winner Across the Creek and a champion in the Slovak Republic.
