The second annual AmericaTab "Road to the Derby" handicapping contest is set to begin Saturday with the running of the $100,000 Southwest Stakes from Oaklawn Park.
This year's edition of the contest covers a total of 10 weeks -- including the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) May 7. It carries a $5,000 grand prize.
Selected affiliates of AmericaTab are welcome to compete in the contest.
"We introduced the Road to the Derby contest last year," said Mike Weiss, AmericaTab executive vice president and general manager. "It was extremely well received, This year, the contest offers every major stepping stone race and our account holders will have a great time playing."
Every entrant becomes eligible with a one time $25 buy-in fee and wagers $10 on each derby prep selection. The Road to the Derby contest covers a total of 23 races.
The three top finishers, as determined by money won on each $10 wager, will share the $5,000 purse. First place is worth $3,000, second place $1,500 and third pace $500.
Each week has a $100 prize attached for the players who have the biggest bankroll from the designated weekly prep.
