Preachinatthebar back in training, may return to action at Santa Anita.
Mike Pegram's grade II winner Preachinatthebar is back in full training, trainer Bob Baffert said, and the son of Silver Charm -- Holy Nola, by
Silver Deputy may start before the end of the current Santa Anita meeting.
The gray Kentucky-bred worked 1:00 4/5 over Santa Anita's fast main track on Thursday morning in what was his fourth breeze since returning to full training in early January.
"He needed some time off," Baffert said. "Sometimes when horses train that well but don't run as well they need some time. We also cleaned out his knees a little bit; he didn't have anything major, they just needed some cleaning out."
Preachinatthebar won last year's San Felipe Stakes (gr. II), but hasn't reached the winner's circle in four stakes starts since, including a sixth-place finish in the Hall of Fame Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga in early August. From 11 starts, he's won twice and finished second twice and has earned $210,088.
