Grade II Winner Silver Wizard Dead in Italy

Silver Wizard, a California grade II winner and a stakes winner in England, has died at stud in Italy. The Kentucky-bred son of Silver Hawk out of the Flying Paster mare Cherie's Hope was 15.

Silver Wizard, whose racing career started in England, competed in the United States for Shirley Robins and was trained by Neil Drysdale. His big win came in the 1995 American Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park. Silver Wizard retired with eight wins from 33 starts and earnings of $493,563. He began his stud career in England and sired several winners.
