Stronach Stable's Ghostzapper, Horse of the Year in 2004, continues to progress in his training, working a handy five furlongs in 1:00 4/5 on Monday at the Palm Meadows Training Center in preparation for a possible start in the April 9 Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II). It was the second fastest of 25 works at the distance.
Trainer Bobby Frankel said he was considering the Oaklawn Handicap, depending on how the horse was doing. Originally, his schedule called for five grade I stakes, all in New York – the Metropolitan Handicap, Suburban, Whitney, Woodward, and Breeders' Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge.
Ghostzapper, by
Awesome Again out of the Relaunch mare Baby Zip, won Horse of Year last year with only four starts, culminating with a stakes-record performance in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
