Champion Bird Town's First Foal Is an Empire Maker Colt

Bird Town, Marylou Whitney's champion 3-year-old filly of 2003, produced her first offspring, an Empire Maker colt, Feb. 15 at Gainesway Farm (Antony Beck, president) near Lexington. The name Bird Empire has been reserved for the colt.

Bird Town scored grade I wins in the Kentucky Oaks and Acorn Stakes and placed in the both the grade I Beldame and Test Stakes her championship season. Her half-brother Birdstone   (by Grindstone) won last year's Belmont (gr. I) and Travers (gr. I) Stakes and is standing his first season at Gainesway. His fee is $10,000.

Bird Town, by Cape Town, is booked to Elusive Quality  . Her dam, Dear Birdie (by Storm Bird), is in foal to Mineshaft   and is booked to Unbridled's Song.
